Half billion euros expansion of Hong Kong Science &Technology Park Phase Three on the move

Hong Kong Science and Technology Park equipped with infrastructure and support facilities including shared laboratory services for Hong Kong high-technology enterprises and talents. The Park provides full-service incubation programme for technology & design start-ups and fosters partnerships & collaboration between industries and universities. Operational since 2002, the 22-hectare Hong Kongience Park is divided into three construction phases; of which Phases One and Two are completed which comprises of 20 laboratory-fitted buildings.

Phase Three of Hong Kong Science Park www.hkstp.org will encompass a total site area of 6.24 hectares. R&D offices will account for about 85%, which is 105,000 sqm, with laboratories and ancillary supporting service in the development mix. The expansion project includes an array of practical green features and initiatives which aims to achieve energy saving of 70%. The development will contribute approximately 0.5 billion euros (HK$5.35 billion) to Hong Kong’s GDP from 2014 to 2019, and 0.2 billion euros (HK$1.9 billion) per year from 2020 onwards.

Work of this new addition comprises of the construction of three R&D office and laboratory buildings, with associated retail and ancillary facilities, external and landscaping works, link-bridge and public transport interchange of a total gross floor area of 67,000 sqm. Two of the buildings are nine-storey, with seven typical upper floors, whilst the other is eight-storey, with six typical upper floors. All the buildings have an overall height approximately 58m. The main work of Phase 3 is anticipated to commence in the second quarter of 2012 and complete in the fourth quarter of 2013.
